In the spring of 2022, I had the idea to start one 12U club team. This idea was born to help young athletes prepare for their junior high volleyball season. That idea soon turned into a 12U, a 14U team, and over 20 practice players that first season.

After the season started, parents began asking us to expand our programs long term. Once the spring season ended, we offered a summer camp and had over 100 participants. Once camp was over, the girls weren’t ready to be done, so we offered a summer training program.

From there, our fall and winter club programs were born, and the rest is history.

Over the last 3 years, we have offered year-round programs and had over 300 players participate.

One of our favorite surprises has been, over the years, developing not only volleyball players but also coaches. Many of our older players come back to coach our younger girls, and it is a win-win for everyone! The players LOVE having the older girls as coaches. The coaches learn so much about the game. That helps them become better players and leaders.

We've grown a lot in a short amount of time. We focus on developing volleyball skills and fundamentals. But we also develop the whole player. In the form of self-confidence, leadership, self-advocacy, etc., while having a whole lot of FUN! We credit this focus for our rapid growth.

Now that we know how to run a volleyball club, something I never saw coming, we are ready to develop it further.

We are excited to focus on some new ideas in 2025. This is how you can help…

• We need more equipment. Our practices are held at Metamora Grade School. Illinois Select Volleyball Club would like to help MGS with updated equipment that ISVBC will also use.

• Advertising. Our growth has come entirely from word of mouth, and we are deeply grateful for that. We would like to expand our reach and help more young athletes develop in 2025 and beyond.

• Guest Speakers. Remember how I said we not only focus on developing volleyball skills but we develop the whole player? We have a long list of topics and guest speakers lined up for 2025.

  We will teach our young athletes about things like nutrition for athletes, how to be coachable, how to develop leadership skills, etc.

• Service Projects. We have a bunch of ideas for ways we can teach our young athletes how to give back. Sponsorship money will help us pay for materials needed to complete these projects. As a sponsor you will receive updates as we complete these projects.

Sponsorship helps us implement these ideas without raising club fees. We are confident these additions to our program will be an asset to our local communities.

All in all we want this to not only be a place to play volleyball, but a true CLUB.

A club where the girls are not just teammates but develop deep friendships. Where they feel they are working towards something together. A place where they feel supported in all ways. Our hope is that this contributes to their overall growth into adulthood.

I was an athlete from Kindergarten through college. I credit sports, coaches, teammates, and my supportive parents for my success as an adult. Life can be tough. But, athletics will force you to develop skills that will pay off for a lifetime. THIS is what we are instilling in our club members.
